The new Timetables mean that there is no direct bus service available to Macmerry, Tranent, and Musselburgh from Dunbar between 9am to 6pm.
All Dunbar, West Barns, and East Linton Commuters who want to use bus service to go to Macmerry, Tranent, or Musselburgh need to change bus at Haddington and catch X44 or 44 serive from Haddington.
Did you know that when you buy your train ticket to Edinburgh you can add on city-wide bus travel for £3? This is the same price as LRT’s DAYticket and First’s FirstDay ticket, but allows you to choose to travel with either company, or any of the smaller Edinburgh bus operators. And if you are a railcard holder you can buy it for only £2, which is cheaper than either of the day saver tickets. Bargain!
PlusBus is available for other cities too, but you have to specify which one when you buy it.
It’s really encouraging that so many local people in rural East Lothian have shown an interest in being a part of RELBUS. We now have 25 members.
Some major changes are planned for public transport in East Lothian which involve cutting some services and introducing new services but at the moment overall picture is not clear. We are trying to collect information from different sources. We know:
East Lothian Council have defined their supported services and put these out to tender. These returns will be assessed and discussed with East Lothian Council’s administration.
One-Ticket is scheme run by South of Scotland councils and bus/train companies which allows you to buy a single ticket for use on any bus or train. You can buy a day ticket for buses only, or you can buy a weekly, monthly or annual season ticket which would allow you to take any bus or train at any time within the specified area. This will not necessarily offer great savings, but will may save on hassle e.g a weekly ticket including trains to Edinburgh and unlimited bus travel around the city would cost £53.
