Early warning of Firstbus closures

We’ve been sent the following which heralds Firstbus service closures and changes in the pipeline as announced today. We’ve not digested the implications fully, but it is certain to cause uncertainty and upheaval for passengers and not least for staff at Firstbus who will be losing their jobs as a consequence.

Relbus has to date not been consulted on these proposals. We are actively considering a response.

First announced on Monday a number of closures which will come into place from June.

44B Pencaitland – Balerno
129 Seton Sands – Musselburgh/Ocean Terminal
X29 Seton Sands – Edinburgh
44C Macmerry – Tranent
625 Whitecraig – Elphinstone Research Centre

The following services will be renumbered and new timetables introduced:

44C Haddington – Balerno
44D Dunbar – Halhill
44D Edinburgh – Dunbar
X45 Dunbar – Halhill
X45 Edinburgh – Dunbar
X44 Haddington/Dunbar – Edinburgh

The 124 and X24 services which run from North Berwick to Edinburgh will all be renumbered X24 and get new timetables from June 10.

There will be no changes to services 18, 111, 125, 126, 127, 161, 170, 171 and 173.
