Get Bus Information on the Move

We’ve just launched some new pages: Get Bus Info on the Move to showcase the range of ways of getting public transport information.  Alas in rural East Lothian we are still some way off from having real time bus information, and bus stop information isn’t really that good in many areas, but more about bus stop condition in a future post.

In the mean time we wanted to highlight a few of the new-ish services that are currently available. These are liable to change and improve but feel free to feedback your views.

Bus Survey Blocked

The Scottish Government is under pressure from Patrick Harvie, Green MSP for Glasgow, to stop blocking a “basic first step” that could result in better bus services. The Transport Minister, Keith Brown, appears to be resisting calls for a survey of passenger satisfaction.

Mr Harvie has a motion in the Scottish Parliament calling for the survey. However, it has yet to be signed by any SNP MSPs.It is backed by MSPs from Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats.

Campaigning for better rural transport: RELBUS regroups

RELBUS, the campaign group for better rural public transport in East Lothian, has appointed former Liberal Democrat councillor, Barry Turner, as its chair. The group has consolidated and re-formed in the light of the First Bus cuts in services, which have meant a review of contracts for many services supported by the council and a general increase in awareness of issues surrounding public transport provision. Former Dunbar councillor Jacquie Bell has also joined the RELBUS committee.
