Relbus Membership Update

It is about 1 year since Relbus formally constituted, and we have had some successes. As well as a round of local public meetings around the county we’ve met up with Firstbus representatives, Iain Gray MSP, and a number of Local and Community Councillors. We are grateful for the latter’s continued support. We also got a few mentions in the press, which is good.

All this is in no small part down the the hard work of the committee, working quietly behind the scenes. In particular we should thank Hassan Syed who left us in the Autumn to take up a full time job in Banbury.

Soon Relbus will be calling an AGM at which point you can expect a short report for the last the year and a look ahead at the challenges. It is also a time to refresh the committee, which is now looking quite thin. We are especially keen for local representatives to come on board.  If you have hidden skills and talents, and a little bit of time to spare, this will help to strengthen the committee and to share the responsibilities. It should not be onerous.

Pro tem, I have undertaken to review the membership list and to keep it up to date, so bear with me if you get a flurry of emails about this, as I de-duplicate the various lists that have come into my possession.

You’ll see we have freshened up the website and the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/RuralEastLothianBuses

(and deleted a variety of groups and pages about relbus as this was rather confusing).

With some help from Sustaining Dunbar, we are also:

  • reviewing bus information sources, fares and timetables on and offline – if you have comments or views on this, or experience of phone apps, get in touch
  • undertaking a volunteer bus stop condition survey – if you want to help out, get in touch
  • try out some integrated timetable displays for bus stops – regular bus users can help out, so get in touch
