Bus services in spotlight

Concerns about public bus services in the Haddington and Dunbar area can be raised at a meeting of RELBUS, Rural East Lothian Bus Users, on Wednesday, August 31.

Organisers are keen to gather information to bring to the attention of the bus companies and relevant local and national authorities.

The meeting will take place in the Town House, Haddington, at 7pm.

The group meets regularly with bus companies and council representatives to discuss ongoing issues with access and service improvements.

It was formed in conjunction with Sustaining Dunbar in November 2011 following cuts in First Bus services to Dunbar.

A spokesman said: “We have held several public meetings in Dunbar and East Linton which have helped raise issues. This led to the re-instatement of local services in Dunbar and a trial summer run on the 253 First Bus between Edinburgh and Berwick Upon Tweed.

“With winter approaching we want to ensure local residents have the best possible service. We would especially like to hear from commuters and users of the Gifford/Pencaitland circle.”
